Enhance your Bouquets to Art experience with our in-person demonstrations.  Join us to learn more about floral design with Kiana Underwood, Teresa (Teri) J. Speight and Gina Lett- Shrewsberry

Tickets are $55 per event. This includes access to Bouquets to Art and admission to all galleries and exhibitions currently on view at the de Young and Legion of Honor.

Program 1: Artful Opulence in Event Design

Journey into a world of exuberant color, form, and texture with floral design studio Tulipina. In this presentation, founder and creative director Kiana Underwood will explore how fine art principles inform her approach to large-scale floral installations and immersive environments. From European villas to modern architectural spaces, Tulipina’s signature style redefines floral design as living art — luxurious, imaginative, and profoundly human.

Program 2: Bloom Where You’re Rooted

Join Gina Lett-Shrewsberry, former Bouquets to Art exhibitor and owner of floral and event design studio Inspirations by Gina, and Teresa Speight, author of Black Flora: Inspiring Profiles of Floriculture’s New Vanguard. They will speak about the African American experience in floriculture, the magic of gardens, and how to bring beauty inside the home. Combining floral finds from the San Francisco Botanical Garden and Flower Mart with cultural wisdom from the speakers’ Southern roots, this promises to be an event to remember.

Kiana Underwood

Kiana Underwood is the visionary founder of Tulipina, a floral design studio known for its artistic and opulent arrangements. Renowned for her bold use of color, texture, and unique floral combinations, she has redefined modern floral artistry. With a signature style that blends fine art with nature’s beauty, her work has been featured in top-tier publications and adorned luxury weddings and events worldwide.

Teresa (Teri) J. Speight

Teresa (Teri) J. Speight is the author of Black Flora: Inspiring Profiles of Floriculture’s New Vanguard. She speaks locally and internationally on the African American floral experience, shade gardening, urban gardening, earth friendly practices for gardeners, and more. She is the co-author of The Urban Garden: 101 Ways to Grow Food and Beauty in the City and runs the blog and podcast Cottage in the Court.

Gina Lett-Shrewsberry

Gina Lett-Shrewsbury was the first African American floral designer to participate in Bouquets to Art in 2023. She has been featured in Black Flora, Washington Post, and Munaluchi Bridal. Additionally, she has made numerous TV appearances, been a speaker on podcasts including Sustainability Defined and Slow Flowers Society, and was recently recognized on Florists’ Review’s inaugural “40 over 40” list.
